Patriotic Chex Mix

This patriotic Chex mix combines Rice Chex, pretzels, peanuts, and red white and blue M&Ms coated in melted almond bark for an easy, crowd-pleasing Fourth of July snack ready in 40 minutes.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 2 cups pretzels
  • 1 cup peanuts
  • 2 cups red white, and blue M&Ms
  • 16 oz almond bark or melted white chocolate

Instructions
 

  1. Line a large baking sheet or tray with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Rice Chex, pretzels, peanuts, and M&Ms. Toss gently to distribute evenly.
  3. Melt the almond bark according to package directions, typically in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until completely smooth.
  4. Pour the melted almond bark over the mix and stir gently until everything is evenly coated.
  5. Spread into an even layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes until the almond bark hardens completely. For faster setting, refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  7. Break into clusters and serve.

Notes

  • Stir gently when coating so the M&Ms stay intact and their red, white, and blue colors remain visible in the finished clusters.
  • Spread into a thin, even layer on the baking sheet so the clusters break into satisfying bite-sized pieces rather than one thick slab.
  • Work quickly once the almond bark is melted. It begins setting faster than chocolate and you want everything coated before it thickens.
  • Store in a sealed airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
